Our childcare centres provide protection, care and education to vulnerable children, enabling parents and carers to earn a living to support their families and improve their quality of life.
Over 800 children aged 3 – 6 years old are provided with free pre-school education in 17 childcare centres in the Phnom Penh region and Tbong Khmum Provinces, supported by teachers and volunteers. Every centre is dedicated to giving children the best start to their education.
In a happy and caring environment, the children receive structured literacy and numeracy education in both Khmer and English, with educational games to enhance and develop cognitive skills.
It’s not only formal education in our centres, all children are fed balanced meals and learn how to wash and brush their teeth. With donor partners, volunteers have decorated the schools to ensure they are bright and colourful places to be.
Doctors regularly visit each childcare centre to provide basic health checks and make referrals to a health centre if needed. The children also attend the local health centre once a month for a complete health check, including weight and height measurements.
Outside the classroom, all children receive a monthly home visit to discuss progress and answer any questions the family may have. It’s also an opportunity to reinforce good practice, provide information on healthy eating habits and check each child is in a safe home environment.
We value children as individuals, encourage aspirations, build strengths and provide support, opportunities and new experiences in a happy community where everyone matters.
